I began my professional football career in 1984 at Nottingham Forest under the guidance of Brian Clough. In a playing career spanning nearly 20 years I also went on to represent Derby County, Manchester City and Birmingham City. I returned to Derby County in 2000 where I began my coaching career at their youth academy. Now a fully qualified UEFA ‘A’ licenced coach I am passionate in my pursuit to make a difference at all levels of youth football. The knowledge and experience I have gained as both a player and coach is proving invaluable towards this objective.

I started my coaching career at the age of 19 and worked in Derby County’s Academy for 5 years. I then went onto Stoke City’s Academy before being appointed Youth and Reserve Team Assistant at Burton Albion with Darren. I have coached in America and Australia as well as doing some coach education, passing on my knowledge to others. I was the youngest coach at the time to pass my UEFA ‘A’ licence at the age of 24. I now want to develop the football skills of children of all ages and abilities in order to help them to fulfil their true potential.
SoccerstarsUK was formed in 2003 by Darren Wassall and Pat Lyons, to provide both boys and girls with the opportunity to learn new and improve their existing soccer skills. SoccerstarsUK specialise in youth development, from grass roots level to elite performers.
We fully understand the need for children to be educated in a fun, relaxed and enjoyable environment. SoccerstarsUK’s team of dedicated FA qualified coaches all hold up to date Enhanced CRB, emergency first aid and child protection certificates. We are committed to providing your child with a fun and enjoyable football experience. Our aim is to develop the next generation of soccerstars!
